About Our President Clarence D. Castile 33rd
Clarence’s love of community engagement sparked in 2005, when he introduced a ‘Paint the Pavement’ event in his Frogtown neighborhood (where he lived for over 40 years) with the goal of bringing the kids out to do something positive in the community.
As a former professional chef, he loves feeding the community and helping people faced with food insecurity. He has organized and led several events in conjunction with Feed My Starving Children, Ferndale Markets, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Prince Hall Grand Lodge, and the Philando Castile Foundation.
After his nephew’s untimely death in 2016, Clarence was appointed to a working group by former Governor, Mark Dayton with the intent of building a better relationship between law enforcement and the community. These endeavors led to his continued work with Commissioner John Harrington and Attorney General Keith Ellison as part of the Deadly Force Encounters working group.
Clarence is committed to bridging the gap between education and public safety. He recently joined the Board of Directors for Lights On!
